It’s a tiny gold magnet, which attaches to your skin with a clear, hypo-allergenic,breathable plaster. It was created by Oncology Acupuncturist Jo Darling, for her cancer patients. Through her work, helping them to manage the side effects of their cancer treatment, she noticed they experienced immediate and intense menopause symptoms. Sometimes their menopause symptoms, most often hot flushes, were too intense for them to get to her clinic so she set about finding a proxy for her acupuncture needles and began to use magnets instead.

She gained positive practice-based evidence which led her to conduct a study where she found around 80%of users reported feeling a benefit, with their flushes reducing or stopping altogether.

The Menopoised® Menopause Magnet has been used by Oncology Acupuncturist Jo Darling in her clinic to support hundreds of women experiencing the heat of menopause, whether induced by cancer treatment or natural menopause.

Two studies, the first of which had data analysed by Sussex Innovation Centre (owned by Sussex University) and second by Surrey University, have shown the magnet to be beneficial for around 80% of users in reducing the intensity and frequency of the heat of menopause; hot flushes and night sweats.

Anecdotally, women have reported improved headaches, migraine, anxiety and low mood. Although this requires further study.

How quickly does it work?

Many people experience an immediate change, some start to feel a benefit within a few days. We recommend using your magnet for a minimum of 30 days before deciding if  it’s working for you.

There are no known side effects.

There is no known reason why you can’t wear the magnet whilst on HRT. If you are coming off HRT, which you should only do under medical supervision, it is advisable to start using the magnet first.

There is no known reason why you can’t wear your magnet whilst undergoing or after cancer treatment. Many of our trialists were post cancer treatment and experiencing medical or surgically induced menopause symptoms.

If you are in any doubt you should ask your oncologist or main care provider.

You can wear your magnet day and night, which is great for hot flushes and/or night sweats.  Top tips for getting the most out of your magnet:

·      Always place a plaster over the skin before you place your magnet.

·      Ensure your skin is clean and dry before you place your magnet.

·      Swap the placement of your magnet between points every 24 hours to give your skin a chance to breathe.

·      Change the plaster on your magnet each time you swap its placement.

·      Your plaster is showerproof. If you need to wear it during exercise you MUST change the plaster afterwards and ensure your skin is clean and dry before you re-apply.

You can take it off at night but you don’t need to.If you’re suffering from night sweats this is probably the most important time to wear it.

Yes, it’s perfectly fine to wear at the airport andwhilst flying.

Yes. If you are running for a long time or if you sweat excessively, it may be worth putting an additional standard plaster over the top to stop it sliding off.

When you stop running, you MUST change the plaster and ensure your skin is clean and dry before you re-apply.

Yes. When you stop swimming, you MUST change the plaster and ensure your skin is clean and dry before you re-apply.

No, you don’t need to do anything different.

It’s not suitable for women in pregnancy; if you’re wearing a pacemaker, are diabetic* or have heart problems; if you’re under 16years old.

Do not use on damaged or irritated skin and discontinue use if a rash develops.

The magnet can cause you irritation if you have a metal allergy. We recommend using a plaster next to the skin and placing the magnet on top. Stop using it if your skin is irritated.

* This is based on general medical advice for diabetics who may experience nerve damage which prevents them noticing problems with their skin if they were to react to the product.

To give your skin time to breathe. We recommend that each plaster is replaced every 24 hours as well as changing the location of the magnet.

Some may prefer to change the plaster more frequently.

When replacing the plaster, always make sure the dot on your magnet is facing towards your skin.

There have been no known cases of women feeling unwell whilst wearing the Menopoised® Menopause Magnet. However, if you feel unwell and you think it might be to do with the magnet please remove it to see if you feel better. If you continue to feel unwell you should consult your doctor.

If you have worn your magnet for a week and have not felt any benefit, please double check that you have put the magnet in the right location. Also ensure that the dot side of your magnet is facing your skin.

Both of our small studie in 2019 and in 2020 showed 80% of users felt a benefit. That means that some women won’t notice a change.Please remember no one thing will work for everyone. This is also true of modern medicine.

Your magnet itself should last a long time (many years if taken care of).

Our magnet is made from neodymium which is ironically called a ‘rare earth’ metal but is highly abundant.

Our magnets are also coated in gold metal as it’s believed to increase efficacy and protects the magnet against corrosion.

Keep it away from items affected by magnetism e.g.bank cards. Store it at room temperature – too hot or cold can reduce magnetism.

There are no known adverse reactions.

However, you should let the skin breathe by moving your magnet and plaster every 24 hours. The magnet is made from neodymium, but coatedas this is believed to increase efficacy and protect the magnet against corrosion.

The plaster is hypoallergenic and is suitable for all skin types. It should not be used on broken or irritated skin.

How does the Menopoised® Menopause Magnet work?

Magnets work with the bodies natural magnetic energies. Your body has it’s own internal magnetic fields generated by cells as they go about their business, generating electricity and keeping our bodies alive.

These biomagnetic fields interact with other magnetic fields on the planet and control our basic chemistry.

To become a professional Acupuncturist you have to undertake a three year degree. That gives you a clue to the complexity of the subject and how seriously Chinese medicine is taken.

The idea of acupuncture, based on the principles of Chinese medicine is that the body works as a whole, each part working to support the other. To be well, everything must flow well. When we become dis-eased Chinese medicine finds the root cause which in turn will ease the symptoms.

An acupuncturist is always highly trained in Western medicine too, but will only ever diagnose in Chinese medicine terms.
